40.5 x 60 in. Edition Print No 3 of 6
Stochastic pigment ink print on DaVinci Archival White cotton rag.
Originally shot in 2014 for Volt magazine, as part of a monochromatic series entitled ‘In the Service of the Mind’, this image was inspired by Man Ray’s recurring preoccupation with the female form. It is a contemporary re-presentation of one of his Surrealist photographs from 1926, which captured a naked woman lying poised - toes pointed, eyes closed, head tilted back and lips slightly parted - over a curved, wave-like structure erected in his Parisian studio.
